Job Description
Described by the Guardian as 'the return to big thinking' and by Total Politics as 'Europe's answer to TED', the IAI is leading the way in bringing cutting edge ideas to a global audience with debates and talks involving the world's leading thinkers, politicians, scientists and artists. The IAI is also responsible for HowTheLightGetsIn, the world largest philosophy and music festival.
The Institute of Art and Ideas is looking for an enthusiastic Management Trainee to join the team, in a role that has significant potential to grow into a central strategic position within the company. This would suit a commercially-minded graduate with an interest in management, looking for a rapidly advancing career. You will gain a thorough grounding in business management and development, as well as in systems and processes. Working closely with the CEO and senior managers of the IAI, you will be a strong and trusted partner able to solve complex problems and influence strategic management of projects across key growth areas in all of the IAI’s teams: Editorial, Media Production, Development and Education, and Communications. You will help to ensure that projects are delivered to the highest quality, on time, and on budget. You must know how to create emailers and presentations, and be comfortable pitching to potential clients. You will have an interest in new media and philosophy and will act as a point of contact for both new and existing clients.
This is a varied and challenging role with a significant level of responsibility and much potential for the role to develop. You must have a strong, outgoing personality, a flair for management, a keen commercial awareness and be able to demonstrate the ability to foster long-lasting client relationships. Above all, you will focus on developing strategies to proactively expand our current business and be instrumental in attracting new clients and unique business opportunities. You will also be involved in evaluating company performance, such as by analysing our current business model and conducting risk assessments.
Applicants for this role will need to demonstrate exceptional academic results (min. 2.1 from a top university) with some demonstrated interest in business and commercial enterprise, such as entrepreneurial experience. A degree in economics or business management would be advantageous, although not required. Above all, we are looking for a self-starter with an entrepreneurial drive, who can get things done across a number of projects, and is genuinely interested in a managerial role.
