Bakery Operative – Level 5 Line Leader M/F
£15.68 /hour
42 hour week: 7am to 7pm and 7pm to 7am on a 3 on, 3 off rotating day and night shift pattern

At Délifrance UK, we are very proud of the delicious bread that we make in our Southall factory. We supply the major UK retailers and food service outlets with premium speciality baked goods, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. We work 12 hour shifts on a 3 on, 3 off alternating day and night shift pattern. Because of growing demand for our artisan breads, we would love you to come and join our Production team to help us make, bake and pack our fantastic products.
Main responsibilities
· Understand performance indicators, drive team to meet targets and how to improve when needed
· Effectively handover to next shift (production plans, issues, notable facts)
· Manage Bakery Operatives & Dough Makers within the process and against the production plans to ensure line performance
· Allocate duties according to the production plans and trained abilities
· Manage Holidays for the team and organize appropriate cover as necessary within the company guidelines and policies
· Be able to identify skill gaps with in team and liaise with the Production Area Manager to put in place appropriate training plans.
· Engage collaboratively with peers and colleagues to drive improvement plans in the classic/artisan production area.
· Assist in all production duties as required.
· Engage fully with the production team (e.g. by holding SIM meetings) where required.
· Support new and existing product development (NPD/EPD).
· Give clear directions and set goals to all team members
· Manage the training and skills of the Bakery Operative & Dough Makers
The Person
To be successful as Line Leader (Level 5 Bakery Operative), you must be reliable, hardworking and a great team player ideally with food manufacturing and bakery experience. You should have previous experience working in a factory environment operating automated equipment, be adaptable. It is a fast-paced working environment and you will need to be flexible as you will be responsible for a range of tasks every day. You should have great attention to detail and a keen desire to deliver a first-class product to our customers – and of course, good spoken and written English to understand requests from all levels and external people plus basic Numeracy. Because a lot of the work we do is manual, you will need to be good with your hands too. You must as well
· Be able to understand the production plan & communicate with relevant people to ensure optimum line performance
· Effectively handover duties to next shift (production plan, issues and any other relevant details)
· Support and train new staff when they commence employment.
· Provide help, support and training to new staff when they commence employment, Delifrance staff or agency
· Good understanding & able to demonstrate people management skill
· Clear grasp of process management and a methodical approach
· Good understanding of health and safety requirements and quality systems
· Food manufacturing/bakery experience
· Ideally with food manufacturing/bakery experience
· Good IT Skills and ability to use, Word, Excel
· Good time keeping essential
· Be able to identify areas of loss though out the line and put in place actions to remedy
· Be able to optimize line settings on the sheeting line to ensure good weight control
