MuleSoft API Developer
(Part-Time, Job-Share and Full-Time)
Location: Swindon/Fareham with home/remote working
The opportunity:
The UK DevOps team is part of the UK Operations and IT function which drives technology delivery and change across the UK business. The DevOps team currently consists of a Mendix Low-code and a Salesforce development and operations capability and is now expanding to provide a MuleSoft Anypoint Centre of Expertise (CoE) API team. The DevOps team has fully embraced new ways of working including Agile, DevOps practices, cloud-first, and CI/CD.
You will work as part of the DevOps MuleSoft CoE API team responsible for the identification, analysis, design, build (development) and documentation of APIs and integration flows using the MuleSoft Anypoint platform. You will report to the API Lead.
Zurich Insurance UK is expanding its DevOps team to meet the increasing demand for digital transformation, software engineering, API-led development, innovation, Agile delivery, and DevOps practices. The DevOps MuleSoft API team will be at the heart of Zurich’s digital transformation initiatives and help drive its API strategy.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the emerging MuleSoft API team as a MuleSoft API Developer. You will work in an Agile way alongside both project and software delivery teams to identify, analyse, design and develop APIs on the MuleSoft platform, serving the entire UK business.

Your skills and experience:
- Software engineering experience.
- One year of hands-on experience in Mule (incl. v4) including either/both on-premise and CloudHub runtimes.
- Experience in developing APIs using MuleSoft within Agile delivery teams.
- MuleSoft Development Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of REST design principles and API design/architecture best practices.
- Knowledge and proven experience of three-layer integration architecture principles.
- Knowledge of OAS and/or RAML.
- Knowledge of XML and JSON.
- Knowledge of API security standards.
- Experience in CI/CD practices using Azure DevOps (or similar).
- Experience in using cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Proven unit testing skills using the MUnit framework.
