We are looking for an Underwriting Fraud Investigator to join us, who has been involved in either policy validation or has a good understanding of Motor claims and wants to move across into Fraud, or maybe wants to make the jump from Household Fraud into Motor Fraud. As an Underwriting Fraud Investigator, you will handle referrals on all aspects of application fraud; from organised fraud, opportunistic misrepresentation, and technical underwriting at point of sale and claims stage.
The department acts as a referral point for the claims, underwriting and broker teams, therefore strong interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple work streams and associated investigations.
The job holder will be working as part of an experienced team who have an entrepreneurial spirit and promote continual development of the department.
- Providing end to end investigation and management of application fraud referrals at point of sale and claims stage to reduce exposure to fraudulent activity.
- Delivering high levels of productivity across a variety of referral streams, meeting key performance KPI and SLA objectives.
- Engaging with external companies and intelligence agencies to identify cross-industry fraud exposure.
- Utilising a variety of desktop tools, databases, and open sources to assist with profiling, to determine the direction of an investigation.
- Using conversation management techniques to further determine risk and separate honesty from inconsistency when dealing with policy holders.
- Demonstrating good decision-making abilities, using knowledge of relevant legislation and principles of technical underwriting to support the outcome of investigations.
- Screening documents to differentiate genuine from forged/counterfeit or those evidencing policy misrepresentation.
- Providing first class customer service, liaising with policy holders, internal claims and underwriting teams, external agencies and insurance companies by phone, email and letter.
- Requirement to take on increased ownership and responsibility when necessary
We’re looking for someone with:
- Claims experience, preferably in a counter fraud and/or policy-based role - essential
- Understanding of the various types of application fraud and how to combat this threat at each stage of a policy lifecycle - essential.
- A keen eye for detail with the ability to use a variety of datasets - essential.
- The ability to make key evidence-based decisions - essential.
- A working knowledge of key legislation, particularly CIDRA is preferable but not required
- Capability to deal with challenging conversations.
