What does the role involve?
The Financial Manager will work alongside the relevant Business Exco members and the CFO to drive a culture of high performance, acting as a strategic advisor and collaborating at every level within the organisation to proactively identify internal and external opportunities to drive efficiencies and profitability to optimise the financial performance of the business, whilst maintaining sound financial control and accurate financial reporting. This will include designing and implementing processes and automation to achieve these efficiencies.
What are the main responsibilities?
Financial reporting
- to always ensure sound financial control and accurate financial reporting. You will have flawless attention to detail, as well as deep understanding and knowledge of all the key financial figures and ratios relating to the financial performance, capital, funding and credit of the relevant businesses.
 
External focus
- As an extensive subject matter with market expertise, scanning the horizon and bringing in external best practice and knowledge on trends, to aid in strategic decision making on clients, markets and performance. You will play a leading role in shaping the business strategy, transformation and growth.
 
Leadership
- You will provide thought leadership, inspire confidence, generate excitement, enthusiasm and commitment, with the passion to drive business forward. A highly effective communicator with strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build relationships and influence business and finance strategy, change and performance.

Management of Finance Department with responsibility for the following areas:
- Build and manage stakeholder relationships with BU Exco members, BU leads, Finance, Capital, Credit and other stakeholders, incl auditors
- Strategic business partner, play an active and influential role, proactively scanning internal and external markets and data to provide valuable insight and challenge
- Deep understanding of key financial, capital and credit numbers and ratios, and the ability to prepare analysis, understand / interpret trends and influence strategy; incl Capital and ROE impacts
- External market knowledge e.g. automation, market intel (pricing, competitor volumes, ECL ranges etc)
- Financial control – Primary responsibility for managing the financial position, including management of financial risks, record-keeping, financial reporting and the analysis of data. This includes ensuring that all the financial information is valid accurate and complete and delivered to a high standard. Note majority of the day to day tasks will be performed by the underlying team, the BU Financial Manager will provide additional insight, analysis and challenge to enable decision-making
- Financial Planning – Responsible for the financial planning of the business (strategic budget setting, analysis and critiquing the revenue, costs and capital position of a business to drive growth and cost efficiency)
- Ad hoc analysis, reporting and financial presentations; assist BU Head in preparing presentations, analysis, business cases (new ventures, M&A, New Product Forum)
- Driving optimisation and automation of all aspects of the financial operations and key projects
- Leadership – Leading the BU Finance team to ensure a high performing team, driving a culture of excellence and accountability underpinned by and environment that is motivating, supportive, fair and focused on development; Leading within the BU Management team by providing the insight, hindsight and foresight.

- Responsibility for the production and integrity of the firm's (IBP's) financial information and its regulatory reporting in respect of its regulated activities (Capital reporting responsibility of IBP CRO, with day to day responsibility delegated to Susanne Preece, Chair of Capital Committee)
What core knowledge, skills and attributes are we looking for?
- Strong lending knowledge within the banking industry, including IFRS statements; technical lending accounting, systems and processes; lending capital and risk weighted asset, lending industry benchmarking
- Strong track record in proactive partnering and influencing the strategic direction to ensure improved business performance in a lending business
