Secret Cinema has been thrilling audiences for 15 years, delivering deeply unforgettable experiences, fusing the world of cinema and site-specific immersive entertainment. Audiences get the chance to experience their favourite characters and stories in a whole new way, and with titles like Moulin Rouge!, Blade Runner and Dirty Dancing, attracting over half a million visitors in the past 5 years alone.
With Secret Cinema coming to Birmingham for the first time ever, we are looking for a dynamic and experienced Wig, Hair and Make-Up Designer, local to the area to deliver Secret Cinema's next Immersive Experience.
Ideal candidates will have experience in a similar role on a large-scale show or touring production and will work closely with the other creative teams to design the hair and make-up for the show.
- To work with and towards the Producer's & Creative Director’s overall vision to design the Wigs, Hair and Makeup for the show, and to maintain the artistic intentions of the production

Manage the department running budget, handling petty cash and order items as required

Line manage, train & support the department team members

Attendance, at appropriate meetings with other members of the artistic, production, and management teams to ensure awareness of the departmental requirements and any resulting changes

To track and be mindful of the Company’s allergies and sensitivities, and supply alternative solutions where necessary

Liaise with and work under the direction of the Company Manager throughout the performance period

To be responsible, alongside the CM, for supervising and scheduling staff within the department

To provide SGL with a detailed handover of all Hair and Makeup materials after the live run

To uphold the high production standards expected and carry out duties associated of the role for a first-class production and the artistic quality required by the relevant director and/or designer

Contributing to the smooth running of the department & production.

To comply with the Company House Rules, Risk Assessments and the COVID Management Plan during their engagement with The Company

Undertake any other duties as agreed with the Producer as is appropriate to the post.

To participate in the Secret Group Ltd debrief processes by submitting a written debrief and, if required by the producer, attending a debrief meeting

Understanding of health and safety legislation and procedure

Knowledge of event and theatre safety guidelines

Experience of working on temporary work sites and/ or Immersive & site-specific theatre
£4,500 to £5,500 project fee (commensurate to experience)
