Job Description
The Quality Engineer’s primary roles are the following-
Compliance monitoring in respect to Part 145 and associated regulations, by the day to day running of the independent quality system, in particular the performance of audits and the aiding with the required follow-ups and gathering feedback from maintenance incidents / issues and feeding this back into the Continuation Training programme.
The Quality Engineer is responsible for carrying out the quality audit programme in which compliance with all the maintenance procedures is reviewed at regular intervals in relation to each aircraft maintained and completion of audits and production of audit reports set by the Quality Manager, ensuring any observed non-compliance or poor standards are brought to the attention of the person concerned via their manager.
The management of regulator and customer audit findings
The Quality Engineer shall host on behalf of the Quality Manager regular meetings with the relevant managers to address observed non-compliances, discrepancies, and occurrences. Ensuring any observed non-compliance of poor standards are brought to the attention of the person concerned via their manager to ensure a proper and timely resolution.
The Quality engineer is responsible for assessing and approving vendors of new and used components and materials for satisfactory product quality in relation to the needs of the organisation.
The Quality engineer is responsible for assessing and approving contracted and subcontracted organisations in relation to the requirements of Part 145 and the needs of the organisation. For assessing externally, regarding specialist services required to be used by the organisation in the performance of maintenance.
The Quality Engineer is responsible on behalf of the Group Quality Manager for the day to day management, (issue / renewal / cancellation / stamp control) of staff authorisations.
The Quality engineer may be expected to work outside of normal hours and may be expected to travel in the performance of their duties.
Quality Engineer’s functions include the following areas;
- Monitoring Compliance with Part 145 and associated regulations
- Monitoring Compliance with company MOE and Procedures.
- Monitoring SMS compliance in regard to Part 145
- Reviewing contracted, subcontracted organisation and vendors for compliance, and managing the approved supplier’s list accordingly.
- Hosting on behalf of the Group Quality Manager visiting auditors.
- Management of observed non-compliances, discrepancies, and occurrences, including hosting on behalf of the Group Quality Manager regular Quality Meetings with the relevant managers to address issues. Recording the minutes and actions from these meeting.
- To support the Group Quality Manager in the investigation of occurrences.
- To issue, after appropriate due diligence, company authorisations and the maintenance of associated rosters on behalf of the Group Quality Manager
- Assisting with gathering and production of key performance indicators.
- The production and dissemination of information bulletins.
- Providing feedback into the Continuation Training Programme.
- Ensuring training needs are being met, by a review of training program, training providers and syllabus
