A graduate engineer is required to assist in the delivery ofa wide variety of project work at InterGens Spalding gas-fired power plant,comprising an 860 MW CCGT and 300 MW OCGT. This 2 year placement will undoubtedly open up many longer term careeropportunities, as the successful candidate will have a unique opportunity tocomplement their academic studies by gaining a deep appreciation of thetechnical and business realities of operating a large modern power station.
Working closely with existing engineering and maintenanceteams (primarily the mechanical engineer)
You will be supporting the planning and execution of plannedoutages, plant improvement projects and troubleshooting.
You will gain direct exposure to a full range of power plantequipment, including gas turbines, steam turbines, pressure equipment,electrical apparatus and control systems. As your experience grows, you will be empowered to manage contractors onsite, monitoring progress at the workface to ensure all work is completedsafely, to the correct quality, to time and on budget.
You will be engaged in auditing plant processes andproviding compliance reports to the management team, as well as takingresponsibility for action plans to drive continuous improvement.
You will also have the opportunity to work alongside theperformance engineer, to assist with the application of the latest analyticaland predictive tools for optimising plant performance, reliability andflexibility.
