Job Title: Mental Health Care Support Worker

Trust Location: Harrogate

Pay Rates: *£15.37 - £19.95 per hour

About the Trust – Rated ‘Good’ (‘Outstanding’ for Caring) in their most recent CQC report, Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust (HDFT) provides hospital and community-based services across North Yorkshire and Leeds as well as providing children’s services in the North East. HDFT has a supportive and inclusive ethos, with excellent transport links to Leeds, Bradford, York, Wakefield, Northallerton, Thirsk and Ripon. Based in the spa town of Harrogate, the HDFT hospital boasts low waiting times, a newly renovated, state-of-the-art maternity suite and is home to the £9 million Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre.

What you’ll be responsible for:

-Building relationships with patients to encourage trust, while listening to their -needs and concerns
-Ensuring that the patient is the prime focus when making decisions about their care and wellbeing
-Assisting in the delivery of patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse
-Assisting patients with compassion when undertaking normal activities of daily living whilst ensuring that privacy, dignity, and human rights are respected
-Be proficient in the delivery of care to patients
-Assist in the delivery of patient care as directed by the nurse in charge of the unit/ward, undertaking duties and activities, with limited or indirect supervision

The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.

You’ll have the following qualification/experience:

-A minimum of 6 months experience as a Healthcare Assistant (Mental Health) or studying as a Student Nurse with at least 12 weeks’ clinical placements, studying towards a relevant Nursing degree
-A QCF/NVQ Level 2 or above in Heath & Social Care or Clinical Healthcare Support or -A Degree/Diploma in Nursing with an inactive NMC Registration. (Must be inactive due to time lapse and not due to malpractice/restrictions to practice) or A Care Certificate issued by an NHSP approved provider.
*Depending on the Trust, you may require variable additional certification and skills.
