What’s the opportunity?
Salary ranges from £35,776 to £43,099.50 per annum with a 25% uplift for shifts worked between 18:00 and 06:00.
Shift Patterns Available: Early 6:00-14:00, Afternoon 14:00-22:00.
Any 5 days out of 7, 1/4 Saturdays required.
About the role
Gist is one of the UK's leading providers of contract logistics, temperature-controlled logistics and global freight management. In partnership with M&S we are looking for a qualified HGV Technician to join our busy workshop, based in Faversham. As a HGV Technician for Gist you will be responsible for the service and repair of a large fleet of vehicles in a safe, efficient and economical manner.
Who you’ll be
- Must be driven, with a keen focus on safety.
- Carry out all aspects of vehicle maintenance and pass all legal and company specified tests.
- Maintain vehicles to the highest standards of maintenance.
- Ensure all work is accurately documented.
- Must be able to demonstrate good diagnostic and fault finding skills ensuring first time fix.
- Experience working in a fast paced distribution environment is preferred.
- Must be confident working alone and as part of a team.
- Keen eye for detail.
- Very self-motivated with a proactive approach to work.
What you’ll be doing
- Carry out maintenance on sites HGVs ensuring work is carried out in accordance with the required schedule and manufacturer guidelines.
- Ensure all breakdowns and reactive works are carried out to a high standard and in a timely manner.
- Accurately diagnose electrical and mechanical faults with the HGV’s and across the wider site.
- Be proactive in your approach always looking for ways to improve things.
- To accurately communicate technical information and outstanding work to the other shifts.
- Escalate issue to the relevant managers.
