Job Description

Prospectus are partnering with Lumos in their search for a Research & Learning Manager, making a vital contribution to Lumos's objective to bring transformative change for children. The post-holder will play a leading role in the development and delivery of projects to generate evidence and learning for impact. This post plays a critical role in supporting Lumos to nurture a culture of learning and continuous improvement, and in building the confidence and capabilities of colleagues to use research and evidence in their everyday work. This is an 18-month FTC, full-time position, based in London.

Reporting to the Senior Research & Learning Manager, the Research & Learning Manager will spearhead the generation of high-quality evidence for change to underpin persuasive advocacy to help transform child protection policy. Approximately 70% of the role will be research design and implementation, where the post-holder will lead on the development and implementation of research projects in line with Lumos' strategy and priorities. This will include: conceptualisation and design of research projects, supporting, overseeing and undertaking primary data collection, analysis and reporting, etc. You will also devise strategies for the dissemination of research findings to a range of specialist, and non-specialist audiences. Approximately 30% of the role, you will lead on strengthening organisation-wide monitoring, evaluation and learning processes, working with programmes colleagues to adapt plans in line with emerging learning.

To be successful, you will have experience in leading research studies within the NGO/non-profit sectors, through all project stages from design to dissemination of findings. You will be commited to children's rights and international development, with experience of generating evidence for impact that can be used for advocacy and campaigning, and to strengthen programmes. You will have knowledge and experience of a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods, with experience conducting research in low or middle-income countries. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to convey research findings effectively with expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience of strengthening and implementing monitoring, evaluation and learning processes, including developing theories of change, is desirable.
