Working as part of the HCAI & AMR Service based in UKHSA Colindale, NW London. They will carry out data collation and validation and also database management duties associated with the HCAI & AMR Service.


The post-holder will be required to ensure the timely collection of data from external data providers; be involved in data cleaning and manipulation; support the timely production of reports and internal and external requests for information; carry out general information and data analysis tasks within the HCAI & AMR Service; and carry out administrative tasks such as meeting planning and minute taking.

Location


The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) offers hybrid working – this means that whilst the role will be based in Colindale, there will be opportunities for an element of working from home. UKHSA have office locations across the UK.

The balance between home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager, determined primarily by business needs and in line with departmental policy.

Responsibilities section:

As the Information Officer your main responsibilities will include:

The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:

1.Data collection and management


Maintenance and development of databases

Monitor data submissions to ensure data archive is complete.

Process data submissions and ensure all data errors are processed in a timely manner.

Maintain and improve data quality through validation and reconciliation.

Collation and summary of data using standard software packages


  • Data Analysis and report production


Assist with the analysis of scientific data using standard information, statistical software packages and Standard Operating Procedures.

Assist with the production of regular epidemiological outputs for UKHSA.

Create, follow and regularly review Standard Operating Procedures

Respond to information requests and provide ad hoc data reports as and when required.


  • Data Governance & Quality


Be aware of, and put into practice, all policies and procedures to maintain confidentiality of patient information. To ensure data confidentiality and security in compliance with UKHSA policies, the Data Protection Act, and other statutory requirements and principles in the handling, secure storage and dissemination of data

Collaborate with other parts of UKHSA to support system wide audits across a range of public health programmes through data extraction and basic analysis

Essential Criteria:

We are looking for an exceptional Information Officer

It is important through your application and Statement of Suitability of 1000 words that you give evidence and examples of proven experience of each of the following criteria:


Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Experience in data management, handling, analysis and reporting
  • Using computers and good working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Understand information governance issues including an awareness of data protection and confidentiality requirements
  • Communicate proactively, accurately and succinctly with the ability to negotiate in a friendly and tactful manner with a wide range of health, IT and academic professionals
  • Show sound numeracy skills and a good understanding of data presentation
  • Produce accurate and consistent work, showing sound numeracy skills
  • Demonstrate understanding of basic epidemiological terms and methods
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to meetings and training across UKHSA sites

Desirable


  • Working in public health with the NHS, UKHSA or in a Local Authority
  • Working in communicable disease surveillance

STAGE 1 - APPLICATION & SIFT:

If you are successful at this stage, you will progress to an interview.

STAGE 2 – INTERVIEW

This competition will involve an interview by video.

As part of the process, candidates will be invited to interview which will involve an in-depth discussion of your previous experience and professional competence in relation to the criteria set out in the Person Specification as well a short test.
