Financial Controller | Barnsley | £60,000 - £65,000 + benefits
The Opportunity
Are you a talented, hands on and commercially astute finance professional looking for a varied and interesting new challenge?
You’ll be joining a thriving business – a profitable and expanding £40m turnover group with an ambitious and talented leadership team.
You’ll be close to the action – this isn’t an “ivory tower / helicopter view” FC role – it’s managing a small team and being close to the action. You need to be someone who enjoys rolling up sleeves and producing / presenting board packs. You’ll absolutely be involved in the strategic piece but it’s important that you also enjoy and relish the tactical day to day accounting activities.
You need to be someone who enjoys bringing in automation and driving modern thinking – someone proactive and commercially astute who enjoys streamlining process, using modern tech and striving for optimization.
You’ll be a natural business partner who enjoys getting out into the belly of the business to understand where the numbers are born from, the real story and how the numbers can be used to suggest and deliver positive change.

You need:
- To be an experienced Finance Manager / Financial Controller / Head of Finance with a hands on approach.
- Previous experience of managing a small team and embedding a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Confidence in your ability to produce and deliver highly credible management accounts packs including insightful commentary.
- Confidence when presenting financial info to a non finance audience including MD / Ops Director etc.
- A naturally proactive approach to improvement – there will be freedom and scope to overhaul controls and develop the existing MI / suite of commercial reports.
- ACCA / ACA or CIMA.
