As the Assistant Psychologist you will support and enhance the psychological care of prisoners covered by Practice Plus Group Mental Health Team; providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
As a University graduate in Psychology you will be able to communicate at all levels working unsupervised while following policy and procedures. You will have experience of working with mentally disordered offenders, prisoners or psychiatric patients and have training in the theory and application of at least one therapeutic model. Your experience of running patient therapeutic groups, psychological interventions and therapies will help you to provide the best possible care to our patients.

You’ll receive an annual salary up to £28,000 per annum - dependent on experience. We offer a whole host of additional benefits such as: cycle to work scheme, free uniform, an extensive training and development structure for all employees along with an employee recognition scheme.

HMP Belmarsh is a Category A men’s prison with an operational capacity of over 910 inmates and is located in South East London. The site houses a High Security Unit (HSU) and is regarded as the most secure prison unit in the United Kingdom. HMP Belmarsh became operational in April 1991 and is adjacent to and adjoin to Woolwich Crown Court.
