We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced Theatre Nurse or ODP to take the next step in their career by joining our dedicated peri-operative team as a Clinical Skills Facilitator in our new Orthopaedic Unit – KMOC and the Day Case Surgery.

We are looking for applicants with a passion for teaching staff from across the entire healthcare team in theatres, including; , Theatre Support Workers , Registered Nurses, Qualified ODP'S, Nursing, Paramedic and ODP students.

You will be working in a supportive, friendly and dynamic team where we are committed to your professional development as well as the delivery of excellence in patient care.

The main duties of a Clinical Skill Facilitator are:
To support the Lead Theatre Practitioner: Practice Development for Theatres achievement of the ‘Standards to Support Learning and Assessment in Practice’ (NMC, 2018) and the Standards of Education and Training (HCPC, 2017) and the provision of high-quality clinical learning environments for pre-registration Operating Department Practitioners trainees and Adult Nursing students (St/Ns).

To support the Lead Theatre Practitioner: Practice Development, Clinical Co-ordinators and Lead Theatre Practitioners by providing clinical training, supervision and assessment to all newly appointed Theatre Support Workers, Registered Nurses (RNs), Operating Department Practitioners (ODP) and students.

To improve patient care and promote best practice through effective induction, assessment and training of Theatre Support Workers, Operating Department Practitioners, Nursing staff and students.

Areas of scope to include:
You will need to have experience working within a peri-operative environment /theatres , have strong organisational skills, be a role model, hold a Practice Assessor qualification and be able to demonstrate involvement in previous quality improvement initiatives.

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.

The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 500,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.

The Trust’s core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients – the first of its kind in the country.

We employ over 6,500 full and part-time staff in a huge range of clinical and non-clinical roles across both of our hospital sites.

Once your pre-employment checks have been completed you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please [email protected] this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
