A position has opened for a Surveyor to join our team. The Surveyor will be required to travel to multiple locations in order to collect data and perform analysis. This position takes great organizational skills and a commitment to hard work, but excellent rewards are available for the right individual.
The role-
The Sector Surveyor is a Crown Servant and a full-time civilian employee of the Reserve
Forces’ and Cadets’ Association for Greater London (GL-RFCA).
A key team member, responsible for the project management of construction projects as required by the Head of Estates and Facilities Management of Association properties within a Sector of the RFCA estate; arrange maintenance, repair, alternation improvement and minor refurbishment.
Also, ensure built asset compliance to all current Health & Safety, Statutory & Mandatory regulations.
Main Activities/Tasks-
Building maintenance and new works
Arrange for works, as programmed and allowed, including both reactive maintenance and Statutory & Mandatory Inspections & Tests (SMIT) consequential work, within budgets, to be scheduled, specified, estimated and tendered as appropriate
Place and administer contracts, supervise work, check and authorise payments, all within delegations limits and government legislation.
Survey and record the condition of properties every two years, where resources permit, and prepare a 7-year rolling programme of work required by the use of an in-house software programme.
Liaise with units in order to balance operational requirements with property management and assist in the development of a realistic statement of needs/requirements and Integrated Estates Management Plan.
Monitor and control annual maintenance budgets for the sector concerned to achieve effective care of the properties.
Working with Alternative Venues London to prepare assets in order to maximise a specific commercial letting.
New and Major Refurbishment Works
Assist the Head of Estates in following and monitoring procedures laid down by the Chief Executive in executing projects with units, design teams and all specialist advisers.
Notifying all agencies of forthcoming projects with particular attention to Defence Fire and Rescue involvement and issuing of appropriate supporting documents.
Ensure that the accommodation provided conforms to the agreed Ministry of Defence (MoD) accommodation scales and that the military requirements of the project are fully met.
Assist in briefing architects, quantity surveyors, structural and service engineers, clerks of works and building control as appropriate.
Attend and support on-site meetings throughout projects.
Ensure that projects are adequately budgeted for and financed at each stage and Advise the design team throughout contracts, particularly on financial control.
Arrange decant and handover to units on commencement and completion of work.
Administration-
Ensure accurate records by means of correspondence, schedules of work, meeting minutes, emails etc. which will be filed and maintained by the department.
