AMTE Power plc is a leading battery business at the forefront of automotive transformation and energy storage systems, delivering climate change carbon reduction. We have a manufacturing plant in the far north coastal town of Thurso, Scotland and a technology development site in Milton Park, Oxford. Our business has been trading since 1997 and is a recognised brand in the development and production of high-quality lithium-ion and sodium-ion battery cells across a range of markets including automotive and energy storage.
We are going through an exciting period of rapid growth and are looking for a Process Engineer to join our growing team. In this role you will work with product and process technical experts to develop the manufacturing processes (Electrode & Cell Assembly) and support delivery of AMTE’s products to market.
The Process Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and will be based in our Thurso Plant.
Responsibilities:
- Provide line-management to Process Technicians to deliver process development for new and existing battery cells (both pouch and cylindrical).
- Lead the electrode and cell assembly process engineering development for multiple cell products.
- Lead the creation of design of experiments (DOE) and perform optimisation of all manufacturing process parameters.
- Support the creation and development of Process FMEAs, Control and Reactions Plans.
- Support Product technical experts to further refine and develop products for scale-up manufacturing (DfM and DfA).
- Support the creation and development of electrode and cell assembly Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) for multiple cell products.
- Develop any processes required for customer specific cells that may require inclusion of bespoke components.
- Prepare any reports as required and ensure these are peer reviewed.
- Support the Project Managers on delivery of projects on-time, on-budget to quality.
- Sign off and complete work in line with instructions on-time, on-budget to quality.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures as well as legislative requirements including Health and Safety.
- Ensure appropriate use of PPE at all times.
- Support the management team with customer, contractor and site visits as required.
Requirements
- NVQ/HND Qualifications in Engineering.
- 6 sigma training is desirable but not essential.
- Experience (3 Yrs+) of working in a Manufacturing and/or Engineering Design environment essential.
- Fully computer literate due to numerous bespoke computer programs.
- Excellent stakeholder communications and management skills.
- Collaborative and proactive team member with strong interpersonal skills.
- Desire to learn new battery technologies and become a process expert.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities.
- Ability to work under pressure.
