Larchwood is a small, nurturing short breaks home in Bracknell which, as part of Children’s Social Care, provides a range of services for children and young people with disabilities and their families living in the local area. Registered with Ofsted as a five bedded home, Larchwood provides planned short breaks. We are passionate about supporting the children and young people who attend to reach their full potential whilst having fun and making friends.

This post involves working on a shift rota basis. The successful candidate will join an experienced, imaginative, and supportive team. Our rota system will include early and late shifts, some sleep-ins, and some weekends.
- Overnight visits
- Tea visits

- Transition to adulthood or other settings.
- Participate in the delivery of all short break care and support for children and young people, this includes:
- Supporting and encouraging children and young people to communicate using their preferred method.
- Assisting children and young people with their individual personal care and encouraging them to become as independent as possible.
- Facilitating the Children and Young People’s social and emotional understanding.
- Developing and maintaining individual care plans and risk profiles.
- Promoting the welfare of children and young people and contribute to ensuring that children are safeguarded from abuse.
- The promotion of active listening to children at every opportunity; ensuring their views are heard and incorporated into the planning of the service.
- Collaborating with families in relation to the needs and wishes of their children, to support participation, coproduction, and service delivery.
- Working with Social Care and education and other agencies to ensure a joined up approached to supporting the child/young person attending Larchwood.
- Working within legislative and regulatory frameworks to ensure the highest quality of care is given.
- Maintaining professional development, through ongoing training and learning opportunities.

We would welcome, flexible, and dedicated applicants to work within our service, increasing the range of support to children and young people, and making a difference in their lives.
You will:
- Have the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or N.V.Q Level 3 in Children and Young People Services or equivalent relevant qualification.
- Have relevant experience of working with children or young adults, ideally with disabilities.
- Be sensitive to the needs of children and their families and have effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Work in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals.
