Job Description

THIS IS RE-ADVERTISEMENT, PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT APPLY.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and self-motivated post-doctoral researcher to join the Oxford Precision Oncology for Sarcoma team (OxPOS). The post-holder will be based mainly in the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology but will be expected to be involved with the OxPOS team members in Big Data Institute and the Oxford University Hospitals.
You will be working as the lead researcher for genomics in the OxPOS research programme and deliver genomic and ‘omics’ data science analysis for the programme that includes integration and detailed interpretation. The post-holder may also design and execute novel data science approaches towards experimental validation. You will contribute to research grant applications, peer reviewed publications and reports. You may develop research objectives within a clear and discrete area of the wider research programme.
The post-holder should hold a PhD/DPhil in a relevant subject. You should have strong computational data science and genomic informatics skills as well as good understanding of the principles of molecular and cell biology related to cancer. You should possess excellent organisational and time management skills and being able to work independently using your own initiative, and also as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact equally effectively with senior academic staff, researchers and support staff are essential. Experimental experience in forward and reverse genetics, clinical informatics, imaging and image analysis and the cancer are also desirable but not essential.
This full-time post is available until June 2026. If you would like to discuss this role, please contact Prof Bass Hassan via email: [email protected].
We would particularly welcome applications from experienced researchers who have additional skills, such as managing a team, and independent scientific accomplishments, for which an appointment would be at grade 8 (salary range: £42,149 - £50,296 p.a.). This would be discussed with applicants at interview/appointment where appropriate.
The closing date for applications is 12.00 midday on Tuesday 28 February 2023. Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.
