Warehouse Operative – Back Shift
£27,445 per annum plus benefits*
£13.60 per hour (£15.38 including weekend premium)
Back Shift – 2pm to 10pm, 5 days over 7 including weekends
The Co-operative Retail Logistics, Newhouse CDC401 Edinburgh Road, Newhouse, ML1 5GH.

Please check that you can reliably commute to the depot before you apply.

No experience needed – full training provided!

We’re looking for warehouse operatives at our Newhouse depot.

As a warehouse worker at Co-op, we’ll work with you to build a shift pattern that gives you real work/life balance. You’ll be part of a friendly team – working together to pick and pack the products our customers love, so they can be distributed to stores in our local communities.

It’s an active role where you’ll work towards daily targets so, if you’d welcome the opportunity to get some exercise while you’re on the clock, this could be the right job for you!

Why Co-op

  • competitive rates of pay (including additional shift allowances)
  • flexibility – we’ll aim to find a shift pattern that works for you
  • full training and great career development opportunities
  • holidays starting from 31 days per year (including bank holidays)
  • 30% off Co-op branded products in our food stores (increased from 20% to support colleagues during the cost-of-living crisis until March 2023)
  • 10% off all other brands in our food stores (increases to 20% on the Friday and Saturday after payday)
  • pension with up to 10% employer contributions
  • Wagestream – a money management app that gives you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
  • YuLife – an app that rewards you for exercising with discounts and vouchers for many of the UK’s biggest brands
  • free employee assistance programme with extensive health, financial and wellbeing support
  • access to credit unions for loans and savings, plus rental deposit loans and season ticket loans
  • free eye tests every 2 years
  • on-site facilities including a subsidised canteen
  • free on-site parking

What you’ll do

  • pick stock for store orders across the warehouse (in frozen, chilled, and ambient) using appropriate manual handling equipment
  • load and unload delivery vehicles with cages and pallets
  • operate machinery on a daily basis
  • distribute products to the correct location in the warehouse
  • work in a team to achieve key targets
  • follow all the depot health and safety procedures

This role would suit people who have

  • the ability to comfortably perform manual tasks
  • good communication skills
  • the ability to work within a team environment

Building an inclusive workplace

We want to make our Newhouse depot a welcoming and inclusive environment. It’s important our teams represent the communities they serve, so we welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. Here you’ll be part of a team that works together to celebrate difference and gives colleagues a say on the day to day things that affect them at work.

We’re actively building diverse teams and welcome applications from everyone. But simply having a diverse workforce is not enough. We want to create an inclusive working environment, where everyone can contribute their best work and develop to their full potential. We celebrate our differences and recognise the importance of our teams reflecting the communities they serve.

We welcome applications from Army, Navy and Royal Air Force service leavers and veterans into our logsitics operations and work in partnership with Hire a Hero to support service leavers with their transition into civilian life.

We can make reasonable adjustments to our interview process according to your needs. You can find out more about Co-op people policies at coop.co.uk/peoplepolicies.

As part of your application, you’ll need to complete an online assessment. It will take you around 10 minutes to complete this test.

  • Salary calculation is based on a 37.5 hour week, working 69 weekend days per year. Therefore earnings could change, depending on the shift pattern we agree with you.

We reserve the right to remove a vacancy before the scheduled closing date.
