Our Role

Reports to Head of Editorial.

As part of the Editorial team:

• Actively participate in strategic seasonal campaign planning for print and digital
• Manage Lifestyle and Fashion Writers, including first edits of their work
• Be responsible for first edits of wider editorial team’s work

What you'll be doing

General

• Support the Head of Editorial in strategic seasonal planning of creative response to marketing brief. Work collaboratively with Campaign Creative Manager and brand marketing team to build response-to-brief packs each season, updating as required.
• Under the guidance of Head of Editorial, be responsible for first edits of lifestyle and clothing copy across the business. This will include editing the Lifestyle Writer and Fashion Writer’s multi-channel copy, including, but not exclusive to, product copy, banners, landing pages, POS and direct-marketing copy.
• Be responsible for first edits of the wider editorial team’s Inspire digital content, and other content, as required.
• Work closely with the rest of editorial team and the Head of Editorial to ensure an on-brand seasonal, multi-channel approach to copy and content is adhered to at all times, across all categories of the business.
• Work with Head of Editorial to deliver US content across the business, in line with wider business strategy, adapting UK content and plan, as appropriate.
• Keep Head of Editorial informed and in the loop of workload to help ensure smooth delivery of editorial content across the business.
• Keep abreast of the competition – in terms of retail, consumer press and online, both internationally and locally – constantly looking for new ideas to make The White Company’s content the best in class, find the best new ways to sell the value of our products and build relationship with our customers.

Online

• Work with Head of Editorial and Senior Digital Editor on strategic seasonal planning of Inspire content, including editorial shoots. Contribute weekly by writing posts and plan and write seasonal features.
• Work collaboratively with the design team to create inspiring seasonal digital features that deliver on commercial and creative KPIs.
• Take part in sign-off process for seasonal web launches and weekly BAU updates, ensuring on-brand messaging and trade priorities.

Brochure

• Support the Head of Editorial in strategic seasonal planning and execution of all brochure content, from concept to completion, to support the wider editorial and brand strategy.
• Work closely with Lifestyle Writer and Fashion Writer to ensure their sections of the brochure content deliver seasonal messaging in line with campaign response to brief.
• Develop close working relationships with all the relevant teams to ensure seasonal brochures and their versions are updated following key stakeholder meetings.
• Take part in brochure sign-off process, focusing mainly on inspiration, accuracy, and messaging of the clothing sections.

Store

• Work with the wider teams on seasonal and additional store-copy requirements, including, but not exclusive to, window copy and POS.

The skills & experience that you’ll need

• Proven experience as a fashion or lifestyle editor within a competitive retail brand, or consumer or customer title at national level
• Proven experience of managing others and building effective working relationships.
• Proven ability to write inspiring and engaging copy to drive sales.
• Demonstrate excellent attention to detail.
• Ideally will have both print and digital experience.
• Experience in the conception and pitching of editorial content, and ideally some knowledge of Digital CMS Amplience and Photoshop.
• Highly organised and diligent with a capacity to work on multiple projects at the same time.
