Applications are invited for three band 6 / band 7 Trainee Clinical Scientist / substantive band 7 posts in the Newcastle Genetics Laboratory. The successful candidates will undergo an equivalence training programme during an initial 3 year training contract at band 6, with the expectation that HCPC registration will be gained as a Clinical Scientist in Genomics. On registration the post holders will automatically move to a band 7 permanent position. All applicants should ideally have direct experience of the work of a diagnostic genetics service. Applicants should have a minimum of a 2nd class degree in an appropriate scientific subject, preferably with a significant genetic content. Relevant higher qualifications such as an MSc or PhD in Genetics would be an advantage.
