Job Description

In Deals we solve the important problems that stand in the way of value being created, sustained, realised or protected for our clients – working together to aid responsible recovery and growth. Working on iconic deals with national and global clients, we put together major mergers and acquisitions and resolve business crises - from international take-over bids to financial crime investigations and cases of insolvency. We draw upon our deals experience across many industries to support and partner with our clients, to positively impact society and the communities in which we operate.

One Deals Graduate Programme
During your three-year programme, you will gain the diverse experience needed to develop your skills and expertise from different teams within our Deals practice, including Business Recovery Services, Corporate Finance and Forensic Services. Examples of the services we offer our clients are:

Corporate Finance - we offer a full range of financial advisory services, from acquisitions and disposals for corporate and private equity clients, to advice on infrastructure, energy and public sector projects

Business Restructuring Services - we advise under-performing UK and European companies on restructuring, refinancing, accelerated mergers and acquisitions and insolvency - finding the best way forward for the business and its stakeholders

Forensic Services - we help our clients to prepare for, respond to and emerge stronger from a wide range of business risks and issues. These include major public enquiries, rogue trader or bribery allegations, and commercial and transactional disputes across all industry sectors.

Our Deals team operate across all industry sectors - clients range from corporates and private equity houses, to major government departments and private sector contractors and developers.

Programme

Our graduate training programme is underpinned by a development framework that broadens and deepens your knowledge. You'll learn from hands-on coaching and an outstanding variety of work, picking up business, personal and technical skills you can use across the network, and throughout your career.

What you'll do

In your first couple of years, you’ll get as much exposure to different clients and challenges as possible. You will experience up to three of our business areas within Deals.

Within Business Restructuring Services, this can involve liaising with creditors and all kinds of stakeholders, which calls for tact, sensitivity and assertiveness. And you'll see more than just the finance side of things too. We often have to look at all the factors which may affect the business, both internal and external, and how these can affect a company’s recovery. Whether you're researching, modelling, writing reports, analysing data or developing options and recommendations, your work could well help rescue a business - perhaps saving jobs and ensuring the company can meet its financial obligations. We’ll also give you opportunities to assist the administrators in trading insolvent businesses where you’ll get a chance to take an active role in managing customer, supplier and employee relationships.

During your time in Corporate Finance you will support the provision of a range of financial advisory services, from acquisitions and disposals for corporate and private equity clients, to advising your clients on infrastructure, energy and public sector projects

In Forensic Services, you'll help clients get to the bottom of particularly complex business issues. You’ll pick up unique experience in a team that’s committed to quality. You'll work with other trainees and experienced professionals, creating lasting friendships and building strong networks.

What you'll gain

You’ll study to become a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) or Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI). This qualification will take three years to achieve

By joining one of our Deals programmes you’ll become part of our innovative international career development programme which we call ‘Edge’. As part of Edge, you’ll receive in-depth training, participate in international events and build your global network. When you complete the Edge programme and your professional qualification, you'll be awarded with the PwC Advanced Certificate in Deals.

What you'll need

You'll need to have achieved or be on track to pass an undergraduate degree or above in any subject. We determine whether you're on course to pass based on the grades you achieved in your last completed year of academic study.
