The Local Digital team at DLUHC supports councils across England to deliver the local public services of the future – services that meet the needs of citizens and deliver better value for money, based on modern technology and new, collaborative ways of working. We’re building upon the ambition of the Local Digital Declaration – our vision for the future of local public services that has been co-signed by over 300 local councils, sector bodies and Government departments.

We have recently announced exciting next steps for the programme following the increase announced at Budget and Spending Review last year.

The project support and admin officer will work closely with the collaboration managers to support funded projects and undertake administrative tasks to support Local Digital and DLUHC’s objectives.

We’re looking for a project officer who is comfortable with working with different teams and external organisations such as local authorities to support project delivery. You will have experience of working in a digital team, taking ownership of various administrative tasks and showing initiative to improve how our projects are supported.

Job description

  • Manage Local Digital Declaration signatories, ensuring new applications are processed in a timely manner and that existing signatory list is kept up to date
  • Manage relevant Local Digital mailboxes, responding to queries or passing them on to the correct people in the team
  • Own finance processes for releasing funding to our funded projects, skills, training and administration of programme budget
  • Support our funded projects with project management work, leading the development of some component assets, like business case materials and guidance for which the standard or tool is being developed.
  • Keep our stakeholders up to date by contributing to blog or website content and working with communications colleagues to ensure consistent messaging
  • Help us track our progress, reporting periodically on the impact and lessons learnt from the projects you’re working on
  • Support business improvement, ensuring our processes are continuously iterated and improved
  • Contribute to organising and supporting the delivery of Local Digital funding rounds and assessments of project outputs
  • Communication support: help communicate the benefit of the projects we undertake.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Government Service Standard
  • Knowledge or experience of local and central government
  • Experience with financial processes and administration
  • Experience working with teams who work out in the open e.g. sprint notes, blogs, social media.
