Job Description
Purpose: To ensure engineering and maintenance tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner and that all appropriate corrective actions are implemented. To ensure that all standards of housekeeping are maintained in line with Good Engineering Practice, the Company Quality System and Health & Safety procedures.
Working Hours Alternate weeks M-F 6am-2pm, 11am-8pm and 1 in 3 weekend on call:
Planned Preventative Maintenance
Carry out PPM activities on machinery and equipment in line with schedule plan
PLC Programming and control
Assist in the development of PLC programming as required
Participate in internal or external SCADA/PLC training
Operational Engineering
Work on the lines to assist & train production with machinery problems
Attend breakdowns promptly to ensure a timely resolution
Control activities of contractors on site
Management of Engineering and Site Systems
Ensure that all engineering activity complies with relevant legislation
Ensure the health and safety of self and others
Ensure all housekeeping standards are maintained daily in the workplace
Support Audit preparation as required
Budgeting & Stock Management
Conduct stock takes as required
Obtain quotations for ordering of required parts
People Management & Development
Assist Production with machine training
CI & Project Management
Work on capital projects as required and complete all engineering activities
Work with the Engineering Manager to continually improve operations
Support ad-hoc engineering projects as required
Technical Skill Requirements
5 Years post apprenticeship, ideally gained in food manufacturing
BTEC/C&G Level in an appropriate discipline
Detailed knowledge of technical disciplines - 415V - 3PH Electrical Systems,
Electrical Control, Fault-finding, P.L.C. Controls, Pneumatics and Hydraulics
· Experience of operational system control
· Knowledge of Mitsubishi FX and Q series PLCs
· Experience of inverters
· PLC hardware and software diagnostic/installation skills
· E-Series HMI programming skills
· Electrical installation & fault finding
· Knowledge of scales and calibration
· Liquid transfer experience
· Good knowledge of pump PPM (centrifugal, mono, lobe, peristaltic, diaphragm)
· Good knowledge of automated valves PPM (APV, Tuchenhagen)
· Understanding of pneumatics
· Understanding of compressors, industrial boilers, glycol cooling plants, refrigeration compressors
