Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) is the UK’s biggest Retail, Digital and Mobile bank with over 30 million customers. Our products touch the lives of millions, so we have a huge responsibility to help Britain Prosper. With data at the heart of our group strategy, now is the perfect time to join our Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) and be part of our exciting transformation into a cloud-enabled, data-driven organisation!
CDAO brings together Data Engineering, Data Science, Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Management. Helping to build data solutions across all areas of the business such as; customer segmentation, pricing, customer experience, credit decisioning, commercial performance and fraud detection.
With your skills spanning across data mining/analysis/modelling and a variety of modern and traditional data platforms, (e.g. Teradata, Hadoop, Kafka, GCP, Azure, SQL server) you’ll get to work on a vast range of high-profile cloud leveraging projects.
As a Data Engineer
You will belong to a multi-functional team, working alongside the business, product owners, data scientists, machine learning engineers and Business Intelligence specialists to solve some of the Bank's toughest business problems.
Developing high quality, reusable data pipelines at scale, ingesting structured and unstructured data into our data lake, and feature engineering for machine learning or curating data for consumption through analytics and BI. Working in a variety of server and cloud environments, using innovative toolsets, as well as evaluating exciting new technologies to expand our capabilities.
About you
You're passionate about both data/analytics with a talent for solving problems through data.
You're a good communicator and you’re comfortable working with ambiguity. You’ll have the creativity we actively encourage to innovate and help build a truly best-in-class data and analytics function.
What we’re looking for
  • Computer science fundamentals: an understanding of data structures, algorithms, software design, design patterns and core programming concepts.
  • Experience working with data either academically, personally, or professionally, and understand the value it can bring.
  • Some exposure to data or cloud platforms for eg. SQL, HADOOP, PYTHON, or similar technologies
  • Any past coding/scripting experience in at least one of the following scripting languages e.g. Python, Java, SQL, VBA
  • Experience or willingness working in an Agile environment
Additional Package: Annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution (when you put in 6%), 4% flexible cash allowance, private medical insurance, 28 days holiday plus bank holidays.
We are very flexible employers and don’t stick to the normal 9-5, within reason you can work hours to suit your lifestyle.
We’re very family friendly as a company and have a great collection of smart, collaborative and diverse teams for you to join.
Together we make it possible!
At Lloyds Banking Group, we're driven by a clear purpose; to help Britain prosper. Across the Group, our colleagues are focused on making a difference to customers, businesses and communities. With us you'll have a key role to play in shaping the financial services of the future, whilst the scale and reach of our Group means you'll have many opportunities to learn, grow and develop.
We're focused on creating a values-led culture and are committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve. Together we’re building a truly inclusive workplace where all of our colleagues have the opportunity to make a real difference.
