Assistant Project Manager

We are looking for a motivated multi-tasking person with an engineering background to join a local civil engineering contractor. This is a great opportunity to join a highly successful Civil Engineering Contractor located in the Southwest and manage a varied range of civil engineering projects for a well-respected client base. Working in the project delivery team, you will be responsible for the commercial and technical delivery of £50k to £1m size projects.
The role:
- Reporting to a Contracts Manager, you will liaise with the site team – Site Manager, Engineer, Designers to ensure the project is delivered on time and budget.
- Have overall responsibility for the day-to-day planning of projects and the production and implementation of construction programmes.
- Manage best value project procurement, take-offs, materials, plant and subcontracts.
- Manage the supply chain and direct workforce so they work efficiently to Health and Safety, Environment and Quality standards.
- Ensure all projects comply with our Business Management System and company procedures.
- Identify and manage the temporary works requirements of the project, the production and adherence of Quality documents, CPP’s, RAM’s, & manage notices, permissions, and licences.
- Administer the contract commercially; Early warnings, CE’s, valuations, applications, project cashflow and forecasts.
- Manage project close out, as built drawings and information for the health and safety file.
Requirements:
- You will have a civil engineering industry recognised qualification, HNC, Degree
- Experience of civil engineering detail and setting out experience will be advantageous.
- IOSH or SMSTS/SSSTS and CSCS
- Good knowledge of MS packages
- Full driving license
- Strong team player, be able to prioritise workloads and good time management.
This role will suit someone who has experience of civil engineering, the client is willing to consider junior candidates who may have recently graduated or have a year’s + PQE.
