Job Description
The Market Strategy Manager is customer-centric and ensures worldwide market growth through strategic sales and customer development activities. This is achieved by developing in-depth knowledge of market size, market drivers, unmet customer needs, and entrenched competitors/technologies. The Market Strategy Manager will assist in capturing the voice of the customer by engaging with key opinion leaders and the sales team and attending customer visits and technical society meetings. They will support the implementation of business plans and go-to-market strategies as well assist R&D and Product Managers by recommending new products that satisfy customer needs. This position will collaborate with other parts of the marketing organization to support development of marketing activities, including sales trainings, customer presentations, and other customer-facing activities such as beta testing and early access activities.
The Market Strategy Manager is an on-site role located in San Jose, CA or may be home-based due to residency.
Approximately 30% travel and some international travel may be required.
In this role, you will support the Associate Director, Market Strategy and help drive relationship building, product ideation and product adoption to drive revenue growth, in the reproductive health market, which includes genetic testing for IVF and other conditions impacting women’s health. You will influence the commercialization of genetic testing products by analyzing new markets and providing actionable recommendations to grow the reproductive health market. This position is ideally suited to a candidate with experience in a related business development, sales, or marketing role with a strong life science background, preferably in human genetics Candidates with post-doctoral research experience in the field of clinical genetics and/or reproductive biology will also be considered.
What will you do:
- Works with manager on development of our strategic vision for the assigned market area.
- Develops and maintains a broad knowledge of the market environment including current and possible future market trends, applications, and information affecting the business, industry trends, competition and competitive environment, and marketplace strategy and tactics.
- Performs market research and can effectively communicate market size, share, and trends, competition, and pricing analysis.
- Develops a clear voice of the customer, capturing customer needs, expectations, and feedback.
- Works with manager to lead regular market strategy meetings that support development of a business plan for the growth of products in the assign market area.
- Proposes new product ideas by providing clear market requirements to internal R&D and product marketing teams.
- Works with R&D and Product Management to support the launch of new products that satisfy the needs of the assigned market.
- Regularly meets with KOLs and reports on how products are perceived by the KOL.
- Participates in developing messaging and go-to-market strategy plans.
- Participates in creation of product launch plans that include a complete package of tools and trainings to support the sales team. This includes creating content as needed as well as providing training to the worldwide sales team that includes who are the target customers, where they are located, and how we can win against the competition.
- Works with Sales to get regular and complete feedback from customers.
- Develops relationships with related scientific societies, associations, educational institutions, trade shows, and customers.
- Supports the development and implementation of customer workshops within the United States.
- Participates in technical meetings such as trade shows and society meetings and provides and presents presentations as needed.
- Participates in creation and implementation of market-based content marketing, including webinars and workshops.
- Conducts outbound marketing activities to advertise our presence and expertise in the market.
- Participates in the development of sales support materials including customer-facing presentations for the given market.
- Participates in development and delivery of market-focused trainings for both new employees and existing team members. This may include participating in training for distributors.
- Works with product management to create and maintain a portfolio of sales support tools that includes, but is not limited to, customer facing presentations, battle and cue cards, testimonials, citations, and management of influential KOLs.
- May support OEM/B2B account management activities and contribute to pricing, forecasting, and budgeting.
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
- Requires a BA or BS degree; MS and/or Ph.D. considered favorably.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience selling, or marketing of relevant products is required or a minimum of 3 years’ experience with a MS and/or Ph.D.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated proficiency in presenting.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to think creatively.
- Collaborative team player who can build credibility and relationships across all functions and levels of the organization.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $135,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
