Who We Are
Fine Cut Group are an industrial manufacturer housing a wealth of production capabilities including digital print, laser marking/cutting and many other processes. We also house 5 other diverse brands under the umbrella of Fine Cut.
We are a family run business with a small but dedicated team across sales and production - we are looking for a technical artworker / graphic designer to join our busy design studio.
Knowledge Criteria
You must be proficient in Adobe illustrator. This is used for all work so speed and efficiency is essential.
Other useful, but non essential program knowledge of;
- Photoshop
- Indesign
- Acrobat
- Excel
- Word
Excellent literacy skills both written and numerically are essential as well as a conscientious attitude to work.
Advantageous Skills
- Photography
- Videography
- Animation
Experience Criteria
Either completion of a course in graphic design or competently self-taught to a high level in Adobe is essential. Practical tests will be required at stage two of the interview process. Work experience / placement or previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous but not essential. Experience within a relevant manufacturing production role such as print or prop making for example could be beneficial - if you're looking for a change and are competent using Adobe Illustrator, we want to hear from you!
About You
As a person you'll need to be highly organised and great at managing your own work load, be diverse and capable of switching your focus quickly and efficiently. You must be confident dealing with all stakeholders across the company from the Managing Director to sales and production staff. As well as dealing with customers via phone and email - you need to have a good phone manner and come across professionally in an email.
The Job Role
Expect a very varied workload - almost every job is different! The job role predominantly consists of creating artwork for proof approval and production processes, this can be from a basic label to some really weird and wonderful bespoke jobs.
We work for some big brands as well as creative agencies, big names in motorsport, the MOD, the NHS, and Laboratories to name but a few of the industries we deal with on a daily basis.
You'll work closely to client design briefs and get to see the way each job works its way through our many manufacturing process - from laser cutting, to digital print to chemical etching - you will actually get to see the end product every time.
There are many processes to be learnt, so you will need to be able to digest a lot of information and hit the ground running - but full training will be given of course, and you will be mentored along the way by our friendly studio team, in which you will be placed in our spacious open office.
Additional Information
This is a full time position. The position is under a 3 month probationary period, at which it will be performance reviewed.
Please note this is not a "creative role" the majority of design work is of a technical nature where accuracy and attention to detail is crucial. The role would suit a candidate at a junior to middleweight level.
- Mon - Thurs 8.30am - 5.15pm / Fri - 8.30am to 3.00pm
- Salary is dependent on experience - £20,000.00-£25,000.00
