EQUANS are recruiting for a General Duties Operative to be based in EDF Torness, EH42 1QS. This is a permanent full-time role working 37 hours per week. On offer is £25,440 per annum.
MON TO FRI 08.30 – 16.30
What will you deliver?
To visit various locations throughout the site on a planned basis to carry out the following tasks:
- Log, issue, and return FME covers/tarps, from FME Centres, FME vans, and other maintenance storage facilities
- Update and return paper spreadsheets to the FME Coordinator
- Collect dirty FME covers from the FME Centres and Satellite Stores and deliver to the appropriate laundry. Once cleaned, return to the appropriate locations
- Remove damaged FME covers/tarps from newly laundered FME covers/tarps and dispose of them via the Equans Waste Compound
- Upkeep and cleaning of FME Centres, FME vans, satellite stores, and laundry bins
Providing Fire Safety Support by:
- Maintaining fire equipment assets by overseeing the inventory and test programme for fire extinguishers, foam trollies, and hoses.
- Ensuring that fire points are reviewed, and any upkeep requirements are actioned
- Ensuring that all documentation is reviewed, amended, and kept in good order
- Supporting the fire door / final exit door inspection programme
- Coordinating flammable cabinet reduction programme
- Recording and rectification of small fire protection barriers (reseal and label), maintain a register, liaison with the Engineering and Fire safety Coordinator

Who are we looking for?
ESSENTIAL
- Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, lift, push and carry up to HSE guidelines.
- Awareness of COSHH
- ECDL or equivalent in MS Office programs, including Word & Excel
- Auditing fire safety equipment such as fire hoses, equipment etc
- Working knowledge of Scottish fire safety legislation and familiarity with codes of practice and guidance
DESIRABLE
- Fire Risk Assessment Certificate or qualification
- Following risk assessment, deciding on relevant risk control measures
- Providing advice and guidance on fire safety laws and practices.
