Job Description
This role is in CDPQ’s London office. The incumbent supports the team in achieving their business objectives by carrying out the various steps involved in the infrastructure debt investment process. The incumbent is also called to playing an active role in the careful monitoring of existing investments, contributing to the management of CDPQ’s investment opportunities, helping to improve portfolio performance and promoting collaboration and teamwork.
The Infrastructure Financing team finances, through senior or mezzanine debt, major infrastructure projects around the world, including highways, renewables projects, social infrastructure and telecommunications projects.
Transactional expertise in private equity, infrastructure or investment banking is a pre-requisite for this position. Through business development, the successful candidate will support CDPQ in executing quality transactions based on selected risk-return criteria while increasing returns of the investment portfolio under his or her responsibility and promoting collaboration and teamwork.
Main responsibilities

Conduct research and fundamental analysis supporting the due diligence review of investment opportunities (project/asset, sector/market, quality of management, ability to create value, growth potential, risks, etc.).

Prepare investment recommendations and present to decision-making bodies.

Navigate financial models related to investment opportunities and adapt as needed to reflect certain scenarios Review, analyze and contribute to negotiating legal documentation related to investments in order to protect the interest of CDPQs depositors (letters of offer, credit agreements, indentures and other credit documents).

Monitor quarterly and annual financial results of current portfolio investments and produce internal documents related thereto

Help identify potential risks and business disruptors sufficiently in advance.

Develop effective analysis, search and monitoring systems.

Offer assistance to other team members to achieve expected results.

Carry out all other related tasks as requested by the team leader.
Requirements

At least two (2) years of experience in credit or equity investment, preferably within the infrastructure sector
-
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or a related disciplined. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be taken into consideration

Studies related to the CFA program and/or FRM, an asset

Proficiency in software programs and databases used in the financial market (Office suite, Bloomberg, Capital IQ)

English and French fluency, both written and spoken

Sound knowledge of project financing and/or infrastructure corporate financing
