WHAT TO EXPECT
As a Power Electronics Senior Systems Engineer, you will be part of a team responsible for the design, development and testing of software and hardware for power electronic components. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of our electrified vehicles – powertrain.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Responsible for System design tasks on various power electronic converter features (system architecture, system behaviour models, requirements)
Ownership of component level hardware and software requirements and test cases
Responsible for the System architecture use cases and activity diagrams
Support system design and commissioning activities for power electronic converter systems in virtual and high-power rigs
Lead system validation activities using Model in Loop and Hardware in Loop platforms
Assist in process alignment and adherence to key internal and industry standards and practices to ensure compliance with ASPICE, ISO 26262 and ISO/SAE 21434
Deliver a verified and validated system according to project deliverables and timing
System issue resolution ownership (including out of process updates and rapid prototype containment of issues)
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
Solid background in system design and development of power electronic converters
Good understanding of motor control theory, electric vehicle charging, DC/DC and DC/AC converter operation
Experience in developing systems using model-based design (MBSD)
Software design and analysis from architecture to component/part level for embedded, safety-related systems
Experience using MATLAB / Simulink, CATIA NoMagic (or other model-based system engineering tool), Vector CANalyzer & CANoe
Expert knowledge of V model and system engineering approach
Experience of applying ISO 26262 (or similar standards)
Knowledge of automotive electrical and communications systems
Desirable:
Automotive / Aerospace experience of delivering power electronic converters
Understanding of automotive cybersecurity and ISO/SAE 21434
Architectural software design / embedded software design (incl. MISRA C) / model-based software development for safety related systems
Working experience in Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) – e.g., compilation of boundary diagrams, FMEA, Fault Trees, fishbone diagrams, etc.
Experience in writing and maintaining system or software requirements using IBM Rational DOORS
Knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture and networks
Experience in working within an Agile development framework
Knowledge of ASPICE or equivalent
Higher degree in Electrical/Electronic/Systems or Mechatronics/Aerospace Engineering
