Job Description

We are currently looking for a suitably qualified or experienced Medical Laboratory Assistant for our busy Blood Science Department (Haematology & Biochemistry).

You will be expected to perform a range of duties, which will include data entry, sample registration, sample preparation, stores and the use of specialised equipment. Good keyboard skills are a requirement of the post as is good physical mobility as manual lifting is involved.
You should be an enthusiastic and motivated individual, educated to HNC level or equivalent in Biomedical Science or other life science subject. Previous laboratory experience preferably in a Healthcare Setting would be advantageous.

The post is full time and you will, after a period of training, be required to participate shift working. This will involve working early, dayshift, backshift, overnight and weekend shifts. Examples of shifts are given below.

Early: 7am – 2pm

Dayshift: Mon – Fri 9am – 5pm Sat & Sun 9am – 9pm

Backshift: 1.30-9.30pm, 2-10pm,

Overnight: Mon – Fri 10pm – 7am Sat & Sun 9pm – 9am
