A position for studying mixed conductivity in organic electronic materials and developing more refined models of the physics of organic electrochemical transistors is available. The successful applicant will work in collaboration with collaborators in the Department of Physics to set up and run experiments and drift-diffusion modelling aimed at understanding the interplay between ionic and electronic conductivity in mixed organic conductors. They will make and study organic electrochemical transistors to refine the current model of operation.
Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mixed conductivity studies (40%). Set up and use techniques including moving front measurements to evaluate mixed conductivity of novel organic materials. Extract relationships between ionic and electronic conductivity through experiments and drift/diffusion modelling.
- Organic electrochemical transistors (40%). Combine experiments and modelling to develop refined device physics models for organic electrochemical transistors.
- Contribution to the laboratory (20%). Exhibit good citizenship and share their expertise with others in the lab as needed. Contribute to laboratory management.
