Business-to-Consumer (B2C) customers are also supplied via Ellison’s branded websites and direct to schools. Position Summary:*
In joining our operational finance team you will be a critical part of supporting a leading arts and crafts business. We are looking for a Group Financial Controller to drive our operational finance function to improve our ability to deliver accurate and timely information, work faster on our continuous improvement roadmap and drive greater business insight.
This role will be responsible for our UK, Europe and US operations, based in Wrexham, North Wales. The team operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, functioning as a proactive business partner and assisting the business leaders with their accounting and compliance responsibilities.

Key Areas of *Responsibility (including* but not limited to*):
As a Group Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the accurate reporting and management of the day to day processes for the financial operations of our UK and US Entity. Reporting to the Group Finance Director, you will work closely with stakeholders throughout our group of companies to improve processes and drive clarity within our global reporting. Duties to also include;
- Leading and coordinating all day to day finance and accounting operations.
- Coordinating the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
- Leading the consolidation process across the group of companies
- Weekly Cashflow forecasts
- Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements.
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
- Lead month-end and year-end close process under rigid timelines.
- Manage external relationships, accountants, auditors, bank.
- Oversee consolidation of group companies.
- Lead annual audit, working with external accountants and auditors.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Manage and comply with government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Working closely with Heads of Departments to support clear reporting and financial objectives.
- Support and develop a first class finance department.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Self-motivated and driven
- Have the desire to grow the role and deliver exceptional service
- Ability to work as a part of a small team and across departments
- Must have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be able to engage with business professionals at all levels
- Must be highly motivated to achieve goals set
- 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
- ACA/ACCA qualified or similar
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with creating financial statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
