Commercial Banking is focused on helping our clients succeed and making a positive difference in our communities. We provide credit and financing, investment banking, treasury and payment services, and international banking services to corporate clients headquartered in the UK and Ireland.
The role is part of Corporate Client Banking & Specialized Industries (CCBSI) within the Commercial Bank and is responsible for managing relationships with public and private companies typically with revenues of $500 million and above. This group provides traditional corporate banking products as well as investment banking products to its clients. Our business partners include product specialists from Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, M&A, Treasury Services, Corporate Derivatives and Private Banking.
Job responsibilities
- Initiate contact with potential customers to generate and qualify leads, originate, pursue and close sales opportunities for a broad range of financial products and services for mid cap clients
- Support the identification, build and origination of a new portfolio of UK and Ireland headquartered mid cap clients
- Manage complex, multi-product client relationships as a primary senior relationship manager
- Coordinate the sales and service efforts of multiple internal business partners
- Proactively market clients and prospects; represent CCBSI's European Banking Group in the local banking and business communities and develop a network of referral sources
- Collaborate with credit underwriting team on analysis, structuring, negotiation, and documentation of credit requests
- Initiate and maintain strategic dialogue with clients and prospects to generate ongoing corporate finance, treasury services and credit opportunities
- High level of emphasis on hunting and executing new opportunities from new-to-bank clients
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Relevant experience as an independent originator, identifying sales opportunities and building a new portfolio from new clients
- Previous experience in selling corporate finance and commercial banking products and services, or coming from an Investment Banking background
- Prior banking experience in the UK is preferred, with strong knowledge of the local market.
- Knowledge and experience in investment banking and/or corporate banking is preferred
- Strong leadership abilities in financial services sales and business development
- Solid credit, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of credit, corporate finance, treasury, investment banking, and other banking products; preferably with execution experience
