The role will initially sit within the Policy Coordination and Prioritisation Portfolio within both the Energy Systems Management & Security (ESMS) and Networks Directorates. The portfolio oversees development and delivery of both Directorates’ policy strategies.
Energy System Management and Security looks to maximise the full efficient potential use and operation of the energy system, through delivering flexibility and security of supply in how we generate, use and store energy. This includes maximising the potential of data and digital and making sure market structures and institutions are fit for purpose.
Networks looks to ensure the necessary enablers are in place to facilitate a more coordinated approach to the transition of GB’s onshore and offshore network infrastructure to Net Zero. We will play an active role in ensuring efficient investment in the networks while keeping costs to consumers as low as possible. This includes network planning, the role of competition in infrastructure and price controls.
The Senior Strategy Manager will be responsible for understanding the policy landscape and strategic context relevant to energy networks and applying this to shape Network’s programme of work. The postholder will work collaboratively with their ESMS counterpart as well as business, programme and stakeholder managers to jointly ensure successful delivery of both directorates work programmes.
We are looking for a candidate who can not only independently lead specific work programmes, but also work collaboratively with other teams in Ofgem to share developments, identify interactions with related projects and ensure we are coordinated within Ofgem and with developments in Government.
This is a diverse, dynamic, and exciting area of work. As such, we are looking for an independent thinking, self-motivated and creative person with the ability to identify links and dependencies between project areas, manage a varied and fast-paced portfolio and work collaboratively with other Ofgem teams.
