Job Description
We are seeking to recruit an Assistant Librarian to join our dynamic and dedicated team, providing high quality library and knowledge services to the staff, students and partner organisations of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust.
You will contribute to the provision of an expert evidence search service, deliver information skills training programmes and undertake outreach visits to promote and develop our services.
The post is based at Royal Oldham Hospital and the postholder will also work across all hospital and community sites within the Northern Care Alliance.
You will manage the site library at Royal Oldham Hospital, and may provide line management for library assistant staff. The post holder will be a qualified librarian, with a minimum of 12 months library experience.
- Participate in the Evidence Search Service by undertaking expert literature searches and evidence summaries to support clinical and management decision making, education and research.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of information skills training programmes, to provide library customers with proficiency in accessing electronic resources, retrieving information and digital literacy skills.
Participate in an Outreach Service by proactively liaising with departments and specialties to ascertain customer needs, and embed library and knowledge services into departmental workstreams.
- Manage the day to day operation of the site library at Royal Oldham Hospital.
- Provide line management for Library Assistant staff as required.
- Engage in marketing activities to promote the resources and services provided by the Library and Knowledge Service.
