Specialist support tutor for dyslexic and specific learning difficulties (SpLD) students
We are recruiting specialist support tutors to provide one-to-one study skills support to students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels of study. We will consider candidates available to work between 15 and 25 hours per week during semester time (30 weeks per year). Some overtime outside of semester may be available. The post holder will work in a hybrid pattern both remotely and on-site. They will mainly be based on the Headington campus but with travel to all sites.
You will:
- Provide a range of study skills and learning strategies to students with dyslexia/SpLD, both individually and in small groups: online and face to face as required by the students
- Select learning strategies relevant to the individual's needs and promote the use of assistive technology
- Undertake initial screenings for students who may have a SpLD
- Read and interpret diagnostic assessment reports
- Manage a caseload of work with a range of students, including students from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Adhere to timescales, reporting procedures and record-keeping requirements of the DSA Membership Standards for NMH Providers.
You should have:
- An undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification
- Hold or be working towards a certificate in dyslexia/SpLD
- Hold or be working towards eligibility for professional membership of ADSHE/PATOSS/Dyslexia Guild as required by the DSA Membership Standards for NMH Providers
- Experience of providing one-to-one support to individuals in a post-16 setting.
Interviews are expected to take place on 29th and 30th March 2023.

This role will not attract sufficient points to obtain a sponsored Skilled Worker visa under the points-based immigration system, however applications are welcome from candidates who don’t currently have the right to work in the UK, but who would be eligible to obtain a visa via another route.
