The Role
The Purpose of the H&S Manager is to provide professional Health and Safety expertise and leadership to the Corby Site, to manage and improve the Safety, Health and Fire activities on the site, and to ensure that the site remains compliant with statute and certified systems.
As a member of the Site Management Team, the successful applicant will:
- Develop the future strategies and action plans for improving health and safety performance across the Corby site
- Provide expert advice to the management team on key Health and Safety matters, including statutory, corporate and business issues
- Develop systems to ensure legal compliance on all Health and Safety matters
- Develop and manage a programme to ensure that the Tata Steel Health and Safety management system is deployed across the site
- Manage the effective communication of Health and Safety issues across the site
- Provide professional timely statistical and other reporting requirements
- Take on the role of the “competent person” as defined in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
The Candidate
The incumbent will hold a key role within the Corby Site Management team, providing expert advice and leadership on all health and safety matters. The role has a site-wide remit, and as such covers all areas and functions.
The successful candidate will also:
- Be the first point of contact for external statutory bodies, such as the Health & Safety Executive (HSE)
- Be educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in an engineering or relevant discipline
- Hold a formal qualification in Occupational Health & Safety Management (I.E NEBOSH Certificate) and in Fire Safety
- Be able to demonstrate a track record of success in the management of all aspects of Health & Safety – a NEBOSH diploma is desirable, alongside relevant time served experience
