JOB TITLE: Restaurant Assistant (Helper)
DEPARTMENT: Front of House
REPORTS TO: Floor Manager/Supervisor
OVERALL SUMMARY
The role of “Helper” is predominantly focused on providing the “Waiters” with the tools required to deliver an “above and beyond” experience at Etci Mehmet; from replenishing key sections to maintaining the highest restaurant standards.
This role requires a varied skill set, where the “Helper” must provide fantastic, courteous service in line with company policy and procedure in parallel to liaising with other departments to optimise efficiency within the business.
KEY OBJECTIVES
1) Drive for excellence in guest experience through ensuring restaurant standards are maintained at all times.
2) Proactive approach to improving guest satisfaction.
3) Ensuring the safety of guests is a key priority of the business.
4) To ensure that the service cycle is seamlessly delivered in the restaurant with every guest.
SPECIFIC DUTIES (This is not an exhaustive list of duties)
● Know which tables you will be accountable for on shift (on the board).
● Ensure the tables and surrounding areas are clean at all times.
● Assist the waiter in the compliance of the service cycle, drinks before food etc.
● Ensure each table has the correct Mise en Place (appropriate set up) before the food arrives.
● Provide guests with clean side plates if applicable with their order.
● Cleaning the trolleys immediately after use and clearing any spillages throughout the section from cooking.
● Clear the tables regularly of dirty plates, empty glasses, and other items not in use.
● Provision of condiments to tables - Ketchup/Mayonnaise/BBQ Sauce/Mustard/Oil/Vinegar
● “Crumb down” tables after the main course or where required.
● Provide tables with dessert cutlery when required.
● Ensure tables are kept clear of unused items, i.e. napkins, cups, cutlery.
OPENING DUTIES
● Check all of the cutlery has been polished
● Check all of the side plates have been polished
● Assist in sundries deliveries, putting away stock
● Fill all sanitizer spray bottles for service
● Sense check waiter’s stations; cutlery/plates/sauces/napkins/ramekins etc.
CLOSING DUTIES
● Sweep and mop the full restaurant after the guests have left.
● Spray room odoriser/fly spray where required.
● Clean and mop the toilets.
● Check stock levels on sundries (Blue roll etc.), sauces, chemicals, and containers, and report any low levels to the Shift Manager.
● Clean all sauce bottles have been cleaned properly if they are empty, and label in the fridge according to company policy if they are not.
● Clean and sanitize all service area sides and sanitize.
● Make sure all barriers and signs are indoors
● Switch of all lights not in use.
● Ask the Shift Manager if it is okay to finish the shift.
Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 30 per week
Salary: £7.87-£9.50 per hour
