Overview

Our NHS client prides itself on being a friendly and caring place to work where the aim to combine our patient first approach with innovative and creativity against a backdrop of holistic team working, as encapsulated in their vision and values.

We are seeking to appoint a Consultant with complementary skills to the local and regional requirements. This offers an excellent opportunity for someone with the appropriate subspecialist skills to join the team to cover a potential catchment area of nearly half a million people at our client’s NHS facility.

The epic landscapes of North Wales are alive with action, and a rich, distinctive culture. Find World Heritage, one of Europe’s oldest living languages, and the UK’s best adventure. Within the region of North Wales, you'll find Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Wrexham and Yns Mon (the Isle of Anglesey). It is bordered by the principal areas of Ceredigion, Powys, and the rest of Wales to the south, England and its counties of Shropshire, and Cheshire to the east, and the Irish Sea to the north and west.

North Wales, one of Britain's oldest and most established tourist regions, offers an abundance of excellent holiday attractions within a relatively small area. Road signs proclaiming "Croeso i Gymru" (Welcome to Wales) greet visitors as they enter the country and bear witness to the warm, inviting hospitality of the Welsh.

The elegant little town of Llandudno is one of Britain's oldest and most popular seaside resort towns, and the North Wales coast roads offer a tremendous variety of scenery. Add to this its numerous large open stretches of sandy beaches and lively resorts, scenic rugged cliffs, quaint fishing villages, and countless secluded bays. It is highly mountainous and rural, with Snowdonia National Park, known for its mountains, waterfalls and trails, located wholly within the region.

The boundaries and status of North Wales are undefined (compared to regions of England), definitions and the boundary of North Wales with South or Mid Wales differs between organisations. It is strongly used culturally for comparison to the more urban South Wales. The most common definition for statistical and administrative purposes of North Wales contains the 6 principal areas of: Isle of Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, and Wrexham. Of which have a combined estimated population in 2018 of 698,400 people.

The well-developed shoulder and upper limb service are supported by dedicated occupational therapists and the Trauma and Orthopaedic Department as a whole has excellent specialist nursing input. Physiotherapy support in outpatient and inpatient areas is of a high standard, with well developed, dedicated teams. The orthopaedic surgeons have excellent links with radiology services, where radiologists have a keen interest in musculoskeletal imaging, particularly ultrasound. The Trust also has onsite access to CT and MRI. The Trauma and Orthopaedic Department works very closely with the Rheumatology Department within the Trust and it is expected that any appointee will continue with this team approach.
