Working for a leading construction company located in LE9 South Leicester, you will embark on a 2 year Trainee CAD Operator’s programme learning the skills required to design and prepare technical detailed drawings to meet statutory requirements.
Over the course of the training period you will be taught new tasks and be supported through the mentoring of a Senior Designer within the team. Every 6 months your training, performance and salary will be reviewed. In addition the company will provide the opportunity for you to attend College (typically 1 evening/week) to undertake a Level 2 CAD course.
If you have some CAD knowledge or have studied design/technical drawing/product design, this would be really useful. Previous office administration is preferable where you can demonstrate a use of numbers/ calculations as well as attention to detail skills.
The role of a CAD Operator will entail:
· Preparation of detailed layout drawings
· Production of technical information for customers
· Liaison with customers regarding technical matters, including problem solving
· Working across internal teams, eg. estimating, transport
· Maintaining and updating in-house systems to ensure traceability and identification of drawings
Education & Skills required for the role:
· Minimum grade C / 4-5 or above in GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English
· Qualification in design/technical drawing/product design or equivalent (not essential)
· Previous office based work experience
· Strong numeracy and analytical skills
· Good IT skills including Microsoft Office with the ability to pick up in house packages
· Excellent communication skills
· Ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines
· Ability to prioritise and multi task managing multiple drawings at any one time
· Ability to demonstrate a genuine interest in joining the building and construction industry
· Self-motivated, enthusiastic, positive outlook to learning and work
· Team player
· Own transport (due to office location)
This is an office based role. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8am-5pm with an hour for lunch (some flexibility to start/end times available).
This Trainee CAD Operator’s role would suit an individual who enjoys IT and design and wants to gain experience through training and development to embark on a long term career with a highly successful, well established organisation.
