Job Description
Experienced Project Manager required to join our Defence sector team to work on a mixture of both UK and Overseas projects. You will be joining a team of like-minded experts that have a passion for innovation and delivering cutting edge solutions. While you will be UK based there may be a requirement for short duration Overseas visits.

AECOM Buildings & Places is made up of dedicated teams delivering projects in Commercial, Residential, Hospitality, Sports Venues, Work Places, Education, Healthcare, and Government. In addition to your Defence sector role there will also be opportunities to gain experience in other sectors.
Flagship Ministry of Defence Projects include Project Wellesley at Worthy Down, and the new Gosport Oil Fuel Depot, Marham Aviation Infrastructure as well as other major schemes such as the £2bn Programme at Heathrow – Future T2, Lower Thames Crossing and HS2.
The Defence sector team is located across the UK and you will be based out of one of our regional offices to suite you such as London, Basingstoke, Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Leeds, Manchester, Norwich, Plymouth, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belfast. Our team is growing to support our work in Defence and we are currently delivering a number of exciting projects both in the UK and Overseas for the UK Ministry of Defence.
Job Responsibilities
As a Project Manager, you will be expected to work within a team to successfully manage and deliver capital investment projects. You will be responsible for the day to day management of projects, inclusive of; contract administration, client management, management of the wider project team and project finances. You will be required to positively engage with the construction and design team and work collaboratively to mitigate risks, avoid claims and disputes whilst maintaining meticulous records to allow you to quickly respond to issues arising and from an informed and balanced opinion having due regard to the building contract.
This role involves providing client-side project management support during all stages of the project delivery lifecycle from option studies, option development, construction tender support through to NEC or JCT contract administration.
You will have a strong professional network and will enjoy being active/attending industry events within the region. You may also be required to undertake Line Management responsibilities, where you will thrive from motivating and mentoring members of your team.
Key Skills

Client side project management, including stakeholder, schedule and contract management

Develop strong collaborative relationships with clients, stakeholders and members of the multi-disciplinary project team

Manage the efficient delivery of project management team outputs, in accordance with agreed timescales and quality standards

Support the co-ordination and sign-off of all management information produced by the project management team prior to issue
Qualifications

Good working knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts or similar, and commercial awareness

Collaborative management skills

Excellent communication and organisational skills

Specific industry and project experience for Government Sector (including UK MOD)

Flexibility to work at sites across the UK (including UK MOD sites requiring SC Security Clearance)

Flexibility to deploy for short duration International visits (including UK MOD Overseas Operational Theatres)

Valid UK driving license
