Data Science is at the heart of BenevolentAI, transforming our massive and complex biomedical data into valuable tools for drug discovery. As a Data Scientist Intern, you will work collaboratively across different machine learning teams across the company, building on and evaluating key components of our information extraction, data integration and gene prioritization capabilities. . You will apply your skills to develop new analyses and visualizations in order to rigorously understand and improve the quality of our data and methods for information extraction.
- Work with your team(s) to establish appropriate data quality controls, benchmarks, and meaningful performance metrics
- Design and implement data analysis and visualizations to better understand the quality of our data and information extraction systems
- Identify opportunities to improve data quality and engineer solutions in the context of well-maintained and well-documented code bases
- Communicate findings and results to your team
- Strong in at least one programming language (Python or R preferred)
- Strong understanding of statistical methods for comparing model predictions, data curation and analysis
- Experience working with data science tools for manipulating and visualizing data (such as pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, jupyter notebooks, etc.)
- A problem-solving, impact-oriented mindset with an ability to understand user needs
- Strong communication skills
- Team oriented, able to thrive in a multidisciplinary environment
- Knowledge of biology and experience working with biomedical data is a plus
- Experience working with NLP and/or knowledge graphs is a plus
