FTTx Fibre Engineer
Introduction
Virtua UK are looking to complement its existing team with additional FTTx Fibre Engineers to support its continued growth across the UK.
The Role
As a FTTx Fibre Engineer you will be responsible for splicing/testing fibre optic GPON, XGPON and XGSPON networks in a wide variety of buildings /environments across the UK.
Using your excellent installation standards and attention to detail, whilst following the installation design drawings and specification, you will take great pride in delivering high quality consistent and compliant installations to meet both Virtua UK’s and the customers’ expectations.
Key Skills Required
- Confident at fusion splicing in external environments (Chambers, Cabinets, ODF, overhead and UG & on side of MDU’s).
- Reading and working with fibre schematics, fibre connectivity paths & straight-line drawings.
- Methodical approach to fault finding on fibre networks (VFL, LSPM’s, iOLM (Exfo)).
- Experience with iOLM equipment, specifically EXFO.
- Understanding and knowledge of GPON, XGPON, XGSPON network designs and splitter ratios.
- Experience with blown fibre systems, blown fibre installation and termination.
- Knowledge of Openreach PIA network desirable.
- Openreach accreditations desirable.
- IT Skills essential, Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe to enable the production of as built documentation, splicing reports and accurate test data.
- An excellent problem solver, you will be proactive, flexible, and creative in your approach to each installation.
- NRSWA Signing Lighting and Guarding.
- Excellent time management, coordination skills and able to prioritise workload to meet projects requirements.
- A positive attitude to working on one’s own initiative to achieve project goals.
- Superb written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
- Communicating with external and internal stakeholders to support the delivery of the project and ensure project goals are achieved.
- Willingness to undertake specific customer required training and accreditations.
- Full and clean driving license.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
