A bit about the role:
4 Year Engineering Apprenticeships (starting 1st September 2023)
You will work towards a Level 3 Food & Drink Engineering Maintenance Apprenticeship standard and will also achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Food and Drink Engineering Maintenance. Your apprenticeship will cover topics such as: mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance, materials science, control systems, instrumentation, fluid and thermodynamics, servos and variable speed drives, continuous improvement, food safety and quality. The apprenticeship programme will be delivered by an Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Training Centre for a portion of each year of your apprenticeship. Heineken will cover the costs of accommodation and meals whilst you are at college. Because of the technical elements involved in the learning, we ask that all applicants have GCSE's or an equivalent (B-TEC) in Maths and English.
What do our current and recently qualified apprentices think? Let’s ask them!
What does an apprentice do, James?
“As an Apprentice Engineer I began my training with a block release to College; I spent 19 weeks there before I arrived at my site in Tadcaster. During the 19 weeks, I covered a large number of topics from milling and machining to plc programming. Once I had arrived at site I continued my learning with on the job experience, assisting Engineers with tasks. Working with experienced Engineers allowed me to build on the basics I had learnt at college. As well as the hands-on work I also have college work to complete; this included logbooks and knowledge checks”.
What advice would you give someone thinking of pursuing this career, Liam?
If you are looking at pursuing a career in Engineering, an Apprenticeship is a brilliant place to begin the journey. You are able to gain hands-on experience whilst getting paid to do so! Your training costs are covered and you will gain nationally-recognised qualification to a trade. You also have the opportunity to work your way into different areas of Engineering and gain higher level qualifications funded by the company.
Why choose us?
“It is a great industry to get into! Engineering also offers you a lot of skills, which will help if you want to move into different areas of business, such as production, quality and projects”.
