About the job

Job summary

A part of the Cabinet Office, the Central Digital and Data Office leads the digital, data and technology (DDaT) function for government. We put the right conditions in place to achieve digital, data and technology transformation at scale by working with departments, and other government functions like commercial, project delivery and security professionals.

We are responsible for:

  • Digital, Data and Technology Strategy and Standards, like the Technology Code of Practice, the Service Standard and Open Standards
  • Cross-government DDaT performance and assurance, including Spend Controls
  • DDaT Capability Development, including the DDaT pay framework

Our priorities are:

  • Set the cross-government strategy for digital and data
  • Establish functional metrics and processes to ensure delivery of the strategy
  • Assure against a set of co-created ‘red lines’ and the Technology Code of Practice
  • Manage operations, governance, portfolio management and executive private office for CDDO

For the Assurance Service, we:

  • Operate assurance processes across Government
  • Product manage cross-government assurance tooling
  • Manage strategic roadmap / portfolio of digital programmes
  • Develop and maintain DDaT performance framework and Digital Dashboard
  • Deliver the Quarterly Business Review process

Job description

This is an important role ensuring new government services meet user needs and are consistently high quality.

You’ll do this by supporting assessments of services against the Service Standard, to make sure the process is efficient, effective and consistent. You'll also help people in departments understand the Service Standard and how to make digital services so good that people prefer to use them.

You can help shape the strategic direction of the Service Standard and to improve the service we offer. The role will involve working with departments before, during and after assessments, and supporting communities of Digital, Data and Technology specialists who take part in the assessment process.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with senior stakeholders and experts in digital disciplines, and with those involved in building digital services across all government departments and agencies.

As an Associate Assessment Manager you’ll:

  • coordinate Service Assessments efficiently and effectively, working closely with communities of assessors from across government
  • schedule Service Assessors to ensure that each assessment has a skilled and capable panel of assessors present
  • provide oversight of Assessments to ensure consistency in outcomes and quality in Assessment reports
  • build capability through developing and running training sessions for new assessors

Selection process details

The standard selection process for roles at CDDO consists of:

  • An application screening process - Simply, hit apply. We only ask for a Cover Letter (up to 750 words) and a CV. Important tip - please ensure that your cover letter includes how you meet the skills and experience listed in the “person specification” section above.
  • An interview - We will asses you against the behaviours listed and your experience

Candidates that do not pass the interview, however, have demonstrated an acceptable standard will be considered for similar roles at a lower grade.
