Purpose of the Role
The Python developer works as part of an agile team to deliver business change outcomes related to the LM Re Treaty Reinsurance Pricing Platform. They carry out required code changes, development required to build out new pricing models and enhance existing models. As part of the Agile delivery team, they will help to ensure ongoing continuous improvement through the identification and championing of new standards and toolsets.
About the Team
The Digital Transformation team for Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM) is led by the Chief Digital Transformation Officer and delivers innovative solutions and capabilities that leverage our technical expertise, business understanding and partnerships to enable market-leading performance across the organisation. The Liberty Mutual Reinsurance (LMRe) Portfolio team is a newly formed group within the LSM Digital Transformation team with a focus delivering new and enhanced technology solutions to support and enable the Reinsurance business globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop reusable, efficient, testable and scalable code using SciPy, NumPy, Pandas, Pytest, PyUnit etc
- Perform tuning, usability and improvement to existing code
- Create documentation for tools, strategies and data pipelines
- Understand the concepts of security and data protection
- Carry out data analysis
- Coordinate with internal engineering and development teams to understand requirements and develop solutions at a company level
- Contribute to the project as required to develop proposals, requirements or other project documentation.
- Contribute to the Business Solutions Team development of standards / methodology for capturing and publishing business processes, requirements and other documentation
- Review and consider development solution for epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, etc
- Work effectively as part of a project team alongside the Product Owner, Scrum master and delivery team
- Accurately identify and estimate deliverable efforts and commitments
- Contribute to team sprint planning and set expectations for delivery of new capabilities, features, and functionalities
- Participate in team demos, retrospectives, and all other ceremonies
- Support creating and maintaining the backlog (including prioritization, and acceptance criteria)
- Adhere at all times to company policies, procedures and standards
Skills and Experience
- Clear concise thinker, who can articulate technical solutions
- Strong experience as a developer/software engineer/programmer
- Experience in Python, JavaScript, CSS, HTML
- Good understanding on integrations with applications and third-party services
- Experience with Git based CI/CD SDLC environment
- Experience of working within an agile team environment
- Experience with cloud technologies is advantageous (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Experience of Reinsurance (preferred) and/or Insurance technology solutions
- Ability to work independently as well as harmoniously in teams
- Demonstrated ability to communicate both in business and technical terms
- Ability to work to deadlines and to meet standards
- Excellent presentation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
