Job Description

Organisational Information

MidKent College is at the heart of the education sector in South East England, and a College which Ofsted recognised as Good for overall effectiveness, in a November 2018 inspection.

As a progressive student-centred College, we are now looking for a Adult Skills Tutor.

If you are passionate about education, and can inspire those around you, we'd love to hear from you.

Details of the role

The successful candidate will have responsibility for teaching and promoting skills needed by autonomous students to progress into employment and/or Higher Education as well as facilitating the students' personal and academic growth and progression to ensure they are work ready and encourage development through volunteering, citizenship and participation in the Student Voice. You will also undertake the role of safeguarding officer and dealing with issues on a daily basis as they arise.

You should be passionate about developing your students employability skills. All of this will be underpinned by progress monitoring to ensure that all students achieve successful outcomes.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have relevant qualifications and work experience, ideally current, in the subject area. You will be an enthusiastic team member who is flexible and willing to work under pressure.

Cover required at both Medway and Maidstone campuses, with the opportunity of full time hours.

Interview date is to be confirmed.

Commitment to Safeguarding

We are committed to the safeguarding of all our students and staff. This means everyone who works here is required to actively protect them from preventable harm. Our recruitment and selection process includes background checks which will be undertaken on the successful applicant, including an enhanced DBS, and in your application you are required to demonstrate how you meet the Colleges requirements on safeguarding.

The background checks will be carried-out in accordance with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Code of Practice. The DBS helps employers make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children. We operate in accordance with the DBS Code of Conduct and Privacy Policy. You can access both of these documents at www.midkent.ac.uk/jobs/college-vacancies

Commitment to Equal Opportunities

As a proud user of the disability confident scheme the College is committed to equal opportunities and celebrates the diversity of staff and students. As part of our commitment to the scheme, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for a vacancy.

We welcome applications from anyone wishing to work flexibly and those considering a return to work from a career break.
